SOTD 6/2: New Songs from a Band I Already Love

I really enjoyed the first album by the band, New Ruins, called The Sound They Make when it was released a few years back. The story on it was interesting too, old pals making music via tapes sent back and forth, they came up with a sound that has a seat in the same church as The National, with the melancholy baritone singing and the nod to Americana in the music - the whole album just worked for me, it's quite stellar.

So you can see why I'm excited by the new one, We Make Our Own Bad Luck. I've only heard a few tracks, (my damn eMusic doesn't refresh till the 4th of June) but I'm really looking forward to see what they've done on this record. The two here do a great job of pushing their sound further - love the cello in As Far As We Know, while keeping the best parts of what made their first album so good to me.
